About us

Buying a Puppy

We take great care in finding the right homes for our puppies. We work with a few licensed and registered breeders, these breeders have taken great care of our puppies since before their birth to the moment we take them in. Our puppies are raised in a nice clean kennel. The parents have lots of space to play or have the ability to run free in the fields every day. After the puppies are fully weaned around 7 – 8 weeks of age they leave their mother and we take them into our home where they are pampered with tender loving care. We make sure that they are up to date with de-worming and socialization. When they leave our home they are ready to start a new life with their new family.

All of our puppies come with the following:

  • • Their health record

  • • First immunization

  • • After care information

  • • We offer a two year health guarantee

Most of our puppies are Hybrids. Years ago when you wanted a dog there were only two options: a pure breed or a mutt. In the last decade or so there became available a third option: Intentional Hybrids or sometimes called Designer breeds. You get the best of both breeds, it is also proven that Hybrids are healthier than pure breeds. Bringing a puppy home brings great joy and ease. As your new addition adjusts to you and your lifestyle they become a great part of those in your home. With the proper care and training your puppy will grow into a loving member of your family. If you have any questions in regards to caring for your puppy purchased from us please do not hesitate to call us or email us. We also love to know updates on the puppy you have purchased from us!

PUPPY GUARANTEE / AGREEMENT

We would like to thank you for your purchase. We offer your purchased puppy a guarantee against inherited congenital defects, such as hip dysplasia, heart murmur level 3 to 6, etc for a period of one year from the date of birth

We will extend this guarantee to two years if you only use the TLC Petfood that we recommend.

We advise the buyer to take the puppy to a certified vet when the second vaccine set is due - not later than 3 days when it is past due, if you choose not to visit a vet within the time frame to continue the vaccine schedule, this guarantee will be void.

In the event there is an inherited congenital health issue within the initial 3 business days, the issue must be confirmed in writing by a certified veterinarian and deemed incurable. In this event the buyer has one of the following options; 1) Return the puppy for a refund of the purchase price; 2) Exchange the puppy for a puppy of equal value determined by the seller. Should the buyer choose this option the buyer has up to 30 days to make their new selection; 3) keep the puppy, but no refund will be issued. In the event there is an inherited congenital health issue discovered after the 3 business days, the issue must still be confirmed in writing by a certified veterinarian and deemed incurable, the buyer will have one of the following options; 1) Exchange the puppy for a puppy of equal value determined by the seller. Should the buyer choose this option the buyer has up to 60 days to make their new selection; 2) keep the puppy. All veterinarian bills will be assumed by the buyer. The seller also reserves the right to get a veterinarian diagnosis, at the buyer’s expense, if the seller feels it may be necessary. This guarantee is void in the case that a female dog has been bred before the end of this guarantee. All veterinarian records must be made available to the seller upon request, if a We DO NOT cover any veterinarian bill(s) whatsoever, nor do we cover communicable diseases such as parasites, fleas, intestinal viruses, parvo, etc. However we do everything in our power to make sure they go home healthy. There is no guarantee on any puppy for accidental death, injury, abuse, neglect, hypoglycaemia, umbilical cord hernia, loose stool, dry skin, stress, or diet change. We cannot guarantee the exact bloodline of your puppy, they have not been DNA tested for origin of breed, and we take our vet and breeder’s word for what the breed is. Just like babies, your puppy will require vaccinations to build immunity. Please contact your veterinarian for more information about vaccinations. The exact size and weight of a puppy are not guaranteed.

We do not disclose any breeder information, you are a direct customer of Optimo K9 Limited. Behavioral issues are not related to breeding and parent’s health history, we are not obligated to disclose parent information of the puppies, and puppies are purchased without viewing parents or records of the parent’s medical and ancestral history.

Additional Terms
Please make sure that the pet you choose is a carefully thought out decision. We are sorry but we cannot accept the return of a puppy for the following reasons; 1) Allergy. 2) Approval of spouse or roommate. 3) Acceptance by other pets. 4) Changed mind. 5) Behavioral issues, i.e. barking, disciplining issues. 6) Landlord acceptance, etc.

he purchase of a puppy is an experience that incorporates emotions. For a new owner it is especially easy to feel overwhelmed. A puppy in many ways is just like a baby. The puppy may require attentiveness to its feeding, additional sleep and an adjustment period. In a new environment, without other puppy companions, your puppy may behave differently than what you remembered in our home. New puppy owners frequently panic if the puppy develops diarrhea. If you have any concerns or questions simply call us. Most of all do not panic, and remember that all of us involved want to ensure that the transition period from our home to your home is a smooth one, and that your experience as a puppy owner is a happy and enjoyable one. We hope all our puppies have gone to happy homes where they will be loved and properly cared for!

By signing this document you have read and agreed to all terms and conditions and recognize that this is a legal binding contract and you are at least 18 years of age. THE GUARANTEE/AGREEMENT IS NOT TRANSFERABLE!

PUPPY AFTER CARE

Congratulations on purchasing a puppy from us! We would like to share some more information on the puppy. You just bought from us. As for many it is their first Experience with a puppy, and for some maybe a long time ago.

We would like to remind and express to old and new dog owners, puppies will feed off you and your family’s energy; the puppy will adapt and adjust to your lifestyle. Training your puppy is important, but mostly the training should be for the dog owner, for you to know the dos and don’ts. The dog will need a leader at home, dogs do not understand human treatment (carrying and babying the dog, etc.) This does not mean that the dog doesn’t need affection and love, this is about training your dog to listen and obey the house rules, having your dog being a loving companion. Dogs are guided by instinct, the instinct they have is being in a pack, and needing a pack leader, if there is no pack leader at home the dog will become the leader and may not obey the rules. We highly recommend the teachings from Cesar Milan the dog whisperer. If you are not familiar with training and need suggestions, always feel free to contact us for advice.

PUPPY FEEDING SCHEDULE:
We give our puppies Puppy food from TLC.
You can find it at https://tlcpetfood.com/nutrition/optimok9. You will have FREE SHIPPING anywhere in Canada or the US. You can also set up Auto ship where your food will be sent automatically when your puppy needs it https://tlcpetfood.com/autoship-terms-and-conditions/ We recommend you feed your puppy 3 times a day; breakfast, lunch and dinner time. Smaller breeds have enough on 1/3 of a cup per meal, 3 times per day. Larger breeds need 1 cup per meal 3 times per day. Do not overfeed your puppy. The food bag shows also a recommended amount depending on their weight. Check this regularly. After a couple of months when the biggest growth has happened, you can go back to feeding twice a day. Give this food just dry as it is good for their teeth and gums to chew. Make sure your puppy has always fresh water available.

Sometimes a puppy can feel lost, overwhelmed, shy, from the newness of being in a new environment, and can stop eating. What helps is to cook some hamburger and rice and feed him that, or some dog food from a tin. He often will be interested again in eating. But give it just for a short time, as the dry food is better.

POTTY TRAINING
Try to establish a routine with your puppy. Usually right after waking up, bring the puppy outside or show a pee pad. Give him/her some time to go. Bring the puppy also outside shortly (20 minutes) after he has eaten. You will get to know his routine.

Praise him/her when he did it on the right spot. Don’t pay too much (negative) attention when he didn’t do it on the right spot.

TEETHING
Every puppy will go through a teething stage, which means for a few weeks he will bite and chew on everything that will make the uncomfortable feeling in their mouth go away. Provide him things to chew on. Soft toys or blankets will feel good on their gums or sometimes something harder like a rope.

BATHING
The skin of a puppy is different than our skin. That is the reason you shouldn’t bath a puppy too often. Once a month is a good guideline, otherwise the skin might dry out. Use doggy shampoo or tear free baby shampoo. If your puppy is dirty from being outdoors, you can dry him with a towel, and leave him in his cage or laundry room to dry. When he is dry you can brush him and he will be good to go.

BRUSHING/GROOMING
A lot of puppies and dogs need to be brushed regularly. Get a good brush and comb, and a small comb for the face hair. Take your puppy to the pet store and ask them advice about what kind of brush is the best for your puppy. We recommend you brush your puppy every day. In that way you are quickly done and it will not be a bad experience. It will also keep a lot of hair from your floor. Even “non-shedding” dogs will loose some hair. People are non-shedding but we still loose some hair too.

Some puppies need grooming. How often you groom will depend on the look you prefer. The average puppy that needs grooming usually gets groomed about 3 to 4 times a year. Some people groom their own puppy, others go to a salon.

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER
All dogs must be registered to your city by 4 months of age, but may vary. Please check out your city licensing information for exact ages. You may be able to register at the city hall or at some pet stores, as well as online.

Your puppy might whine the first night as he misses his mom and siblings. What can help is to buy him a stuffed animal, as big as he is.

At your first vet visit bring a stool sample from your puppy. Our puppies are vet-checked but only from outside. It is not uncommon that they might have a parasite. The infection chances are high in a litter, although we do our best to let them go healthy.

There are 3 needles due before your puppy is fully vaccinated, each about 4 weeks apart. So the second is due about 4 weeks after the last one that shows on the health records. Please keep your puppy off public grass and park until they are fully vaccinated!! This is extremely important for puppies. Once they are fully vaccinated, they will have booster shots due once a year. Please contact your vet for full details, also about neutering and spaying ages. Call or ask around which Vet is good and not too expensive. Prices may vary.

Please e-mail us pictures and updates, we love to hear from you!
